Algebra Lesson R.8: Evaluating Algebraic Expressions

Practice Exercises:

Evaluate the following expressions in one variable at the given value

1. \(2x+5\) at \(x=3\)

2. \(3y^2-2y+3\) at \(y=1\)

3. \(\frac{2}{3}t + \frac{1}{3}\) at \( t = \frac{7}{3}\)

Evaluate the following expressions in two variables at the given values

4. \((2-x)(4-y)\) when \(x=4\) and \(y=2\)

5. \((\frac{1}{2}x)(2y)\) when \(x =\frac{4}{3}\) and \(y = 8\)

6. \(.7x + .3y\) when \(x=1\) and \(y=1\)
